Barcelona are ready to turn their attention to Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku in their bid to sign a striker this summer.
The Catalan giants want to bring in a centre-forward in the next transfer window as a priority, with Xavi Hernandez demanding a focal point for his side’s attack.
Erling Haaland was their main target but the Norwegian is almost certain to join Manchester City this summer.
The club also held talks for Robert Lewandowski but the negotiations proved complicated and as a result Barcelona are ready to trigger their plan C.
According to the Spanish sports daily BrandBarcelona are now considering the prospect of signing Lukaku from Chelsea in the next transfer window.
Chelsea paid over €115m to land the Belgian away from Inter last summer but Lukaku was nothing short of a flop on his return to Stamford Bridge.
He is not a definite starter at Chelsea and has scored just five times in the Premier League this season.
The striker is unhappy at Chelsea and is open to leaving the club this summer.
Barcelona have already met with their agent to inquire about the possibility of signing the 28-year-old in the upcoming window.
However, it is likely to be a complicated financial operation as Chelsea are unlikely to want to undo a huge loss on the Belgian and want to recoup a large part of the fee they paid for him.
