IHG announces eleven properties in Spain and Portugal : Business Traveler USA

The agreements cover five of the hotel group’s brands, including Staybridge Suites, Hotel Indigo, Six Senses, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.

IHG Hotels and Resorts has signed deals for 11 new properties in Spain and Portugal across five of the hotel group’s brands.

Three of the signings are for IHG Staybridge Suites extended stays, including the first for the brand in Portugal, the 135-room Staybridge Suites Carcavelos. The other two properties in Spain are the 105-suite Staybridge Suites Malaga and the 119-suite Staybridge Suites Porto.

The second property in Portugal under the Six Senses flag is set to open in Lisbon in 2025. The 114-room hotel will be located in the city’s 18th-century Palacio de Pedrosas and will offer “first-class wellness facilities “. It joins the current Six Senses Douro Valley in Lamego.

Holiday Inn Express, which surpassed 3,000 properties in November, continues to grow with the addition of five hotels in the Iberian Peninsula, including the 156-room Holiday Inn Express Madrid Airport scheduled to open in June 2023, and a 105-room hotel in Bilbao, scheduled for August 2023.

The group’s first property in Seville, a 146-room Holiday Inn Express, is scheduled for November 2023. Rounding out the portfolio of five properties under the brand, a 96-room hotel in the Boa Vista district of Porto and a property of 76 rooms located in Evora, 90 minutes from Lisbon.

A 120-room Hotel Indigo property is also under development in Gibraltar, and the 208-room Holiday Inn Sant Cugat is due to open in June on the outskirts of Barcelona.

These signings add to the recent agreement with JJW Hotels and Resorts to add the Penina Hotel and Golf Resort and the Dona Filipa Hotel – both located in the Portuguese region of Algarve – to IHG Vignette Collection, that the hotel group launched in August.
